OULTON RACE TWO BULLETIN
Reining champions VX Racing dominated in race two of the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Oulton Park, Cheshire, where Fabrizio Giovanardi charged home to finish second, with team-mate Tom Onslow-Cole in third.

Giovanardi showed true consistency in the second race of the day with a clean drive, adding a further 12 points to his current championship lead. VX Racing rookie Onslow-Cole hung on to the back of Giovanardi’s VXR Vectra for the duration of the race, and drove competitively for his well-deserved podium finish, clocking up a fastest lap of 1:28.523 along the way.

Matt Neal picked his way through the pack and despite getting caught-up in a number of battles with his rivals, Neal gave an outstanding driving display and finished seventh after starting from 15th on the grid. The race was won by Team RAC’s Colin Turkington with a time of 22:23.153.

Tom Onslow-Cole #10

“I am pleased with my car’s performance today and I think we had a good finish. I think that today we are really collecting the points that we deserve, so it will be good to see the championship standings at the end of the weekend. It’s always good to get on the podium again too, especially alongside Fabrizio!”
